Our Club

Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC is a member of AFL Gold Coast Region – one of the 13 Regions, 24 Leagues and 159 Clubs that is covered by AFL Queensland.
AFL Queensland is the State controlling body for AFL in Queensland. Its  key objectives include:

• To  develop and support appropriate pathways for all segments from AFL Auskick to Open Age that maximise participation
• To support well managed leagues and clubs to motivate volunteers, umpires, coaches and sports trainers for all levels of Australian Football to promote quality environments
• To develop the talent pathway and enhance second tier competitions to capture and develop talented players and umpires
• To collaborate on facility development for the community football network of leagues and clubs
• To utilise Australian Football as a vehicle to promote social inclusion, education and employment initiatives, particularly in Indigenous and multicultural communities
• To build the relationship with the community to develop fans of the game, the AFL Competition and AFL Clubs.
  

Junior Pathways

Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC offers the following junior player pathways:

• NAB AFL AUSKICK

An introduction to AFL, participants learn basic skills and how to play the game in a fun, safe environment with their friends. Please register to play Auskick at PBCJAFC through the Auskick website. www.aflauskick.com.au

• JUNIOR BRIDGING PROGRAM 5 – 7 Year Olds

Modified rules including no tackle, smaller field size, 6-a-side teams, fun and safe!

• UNDER 8  (Must be 7 by June 30)

Modified rules including no tackle, smaller field size, 9-a-side teams, fun and safe!

• UNDER 9 – UNDER 10

Under 9s and 10s are introduced to tackling by using the ‘wrap tackle’ which is a modified version of tackling where players are ‘bear hugged’ and do not go to ground.

• UNDER 11

Under 11s learn the correct tackling technique and begin to play full AFL rules

• UNDER 12 – UNDER 16

Under 12s and up play competitive football for points and premierships.

Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC caters for all ages and abilities, so it doesn’t matter if you know a lot or very little about the game.
Our coaches are there to help and teach all the skills and rules in a safe and friendly environment.

Girls can play in mixed gender teams to the age of 14.
Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC is looking forward to building on the success of our 2016 inaugural U15 girls team.

Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC supports coaches with quality training and resources to help you become a great Australian Football Coach

• UMPIRES
  

Palm Beach Currumbin JAFC supports and encourages umpires as a great way to be involved in the game.
Umpiring provides an opportunity to get up close to the action while teaching outstanding life skills such as leadership, assertiveness and decision making.

WELCOME TO OUR FOOTBALL CLUB
 
Mum and Dad come watch my game
Cheer and shout and say my name
Watch me run and kick the ball
Don’t be concerned if I fall
 
Meet my coach, he’s just a dad
His training drills aren’t so bad
I might not get a full game today
There’s other kids who want to play
And see the ref, he’s just a man
He can only see what he can
 
There’s pies and drinks over there
The canteen helpers really care
You can even lend a hand
Volunteers are in high demand
 
I’ll probably never be paid to play
But for now, I’m living day to day
So come watch my game
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry
If you’re patient with me
I’ll always try.
